Dear Lourdes Catholic School Families,   

Plans for the future of Lourdes Catholic School are underway as we prepare for the ’10-’11 school year and also continue the Strategic Planning process.  Last week was our Early Childhood registration and this past Monday, pre-registration forms were sent home with youngest and only students for registration for grades 1-8.  Please return these pre-registration forms by Thursday, March 11th.  If you did not receive a form, please contact the school office.

As for the Strategic Planning process, I am asking for your help. We are putting together Focus Groups to gather data and information to put together recommendations for the Strategic Plan.  I invite all members of the LCS and OLOL community to consider taking part in this activity.  The Focus Groups will be held on Wednesday, March 31st at school and in the church conference rooms.  Times for the meetings will be 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m.  You would only need to attend one of the listed times.  Staff from the AEA (Area Education Association) will be conducting the Focus Groups and will present the information to the Strategic Planning Committee.  If you are interested in participating, please call or email Mrs. Courville (359-3466 x102 or bcourville@mail.lourdes.pvt.k12.ia.us).  Please also let Mrs. Courville know your preferred time.

Reminder to all 2nd grade parents – the mandatory First Communion Workshop is scheduled for this Sunday, March 7th from 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. in the church.  If you are not able to attend, please contact Joyce Kloft at the rectory (359-0345).

The Dodgeball tournament was very successful and raised $427.75 for Cafe on Vine and the Haiti Relief Fund.  Thank you to Mr. Werling and Mr. Sawyer for coordinating the event and to everyone who participated.

Please join us for Reconciliation at 10:00 on Monday, March 8th.

Announcements:
*The Lourdes Little Lancers House will be open Friday, March 12th but will be closed during spring break from Monday, March 15 to Friday, March 19.

*There will be no before/after school care from Friday, March 12 to Friday, March 19.

*AHS Spring Musical, “Into the Woods” will be performed March 19th (7:30 p.m.), 20th (7:30 p.m.), and 21st (2:00 p.m.).  Tickets are available at: www.assumptionhigh.organd also at the door.  Tickets cost $9 for adults and students/seniors cost $7.  Your student should be bringing home this week a free student pass to attend the performance. 

*Scrip NUT Day: The families who earned a NUT Day for February Scrip purchases received an email yesterday.  The Scrip NUT Day for these families is scheduled for tomorrow, March 5th.  Thank you to everyone who supports this program.

Good luck to the students who will be competing in the 6th grade Math Bee at AEA on Tuesday, March 9th.

*We are looking for PICTURES: Betsy Polaschek (Parish Secretary) is looking for pictures of LCS students for the OLOL church bulletin.  If you have pictures, please send them (with a caption) to Betsy’s email: lourdesbulletin@gmail.com.

Variety Show auditions will be held next week.  The Variety Show is scheduled for Monday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m.

End of the 3rd quarter is Thursday, March 11th.  There is no early dismissal on that day.  There is no school for students on Friday, March 12th.  Spring break is March 15 – 19.  Classes resume on Monday, March 22.  Report cards will be available for pickup after 3:00 on Friday, March 26.
