In order to achieve the educational experience we expect for our children, it is necessary that the school’s resources are supplemented through a variety of fundraisers. This year, our fundraising goals have become a little more streamlined and specific to the school. Thus we will continue to have additional fundraising events each year, they just might take on a different form to keep these events fun to plan and participate in while keeping them productive with regard to funds raised. As announced last week in the newsletter, this fall we will host a competitive Bean Bag tournament. There is a tab on the school web site about the tournament and shortly, regular communications will be coming to all Lourdes families about the many ways we all can participate. It will be great fun! We will follow this with a 2-week period in the spring to "Celebrate the Arts" in our school and community.

These Home & School sponsored events are not the only opportunities for you to assist in continuing toward the goal of excellence here at Lourdes. There are also smaller ongoing efforts that are scheduled and might be more specific to age or interest groups. In an effort to help make these opportunities easier for all families to plan for and participate in, we have put together a calendar. Of course, the greatest resource at Lourdes for raising funds to support our school has become our Scrip program. Surprisingly, less than half of the families at Lourdes utilize Scrip on a regular basis. This program manages to provide money not only for a portion to be dedicated to the operating budget, but also to many of the extra benefits to our children receive that tuition alone does not cover. Scrip is the easiest, most consistent and convenient way to support the school and your children and doesn’t cost you anything extra out of pocket. If you haven’t tried Scrip – please do. If you have any questions about what it is, how it works or how you can help promote Scrip, feel free to ask Betsy Polaschek or Mary Walsh.

In the coming year, we plan to add more opportunities to purchase Scrip and in more convenient ways. You will be able to order online and have your payment directly deducted from a bank account when you authorize the purchase. We also plan to offer an option to purchase Scrip using credit cards. Please look for news on these options to come soon.

Whether you want to donate funds or assist in planning, preparation and follow through, this calendar should help you plan around your time schedule.
